Third Thursdays at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
There’s a beautiful place in Boston where culture, art, and creativity are celebrated monthly with music, entertainment and hands-on art making. Welcome to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, a home for paintings, sculptures, ceramics, books and more from medieval Europe, Renaissance Italy and 19th-century France and America.
Built to resemble a Venetian palace, the museum holds special events every third Thursday of 3the month, each a different theme from the last. This May, discover this little gem as they host Third Thursdays: A New Light, May 19th, at 5:30 PM. You’ll have the opportunity to experience the museum after hours, explore their historic courtyard garden and create your own work of art in one of the museum’s studios. Music will be available to set the mood, as well as a cash wine bar because making art is more fun with a glass in one hand and a brush in the other. And if you’re looking to get special access to the historic art pieces displayed around the museum, artist and spotlight talks will be organized throughout the galleries. Snacks and dinner will also be provided by the museum’s cafe.
Born in the late 1800’s, Isabella Stewart Gardner was an international traveler, a dedicated Red Sox and Harvard College football fan, and a woman dedicated to bringing antique and historic collections of art to the Boston community through her travels around the world. A portrait of Isabella is displayed in the museum.
Enjoy Boston’s North End and the sunny waterfront views during the day. Then, when the sun goes down, venture through historic Boston and find your way to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for third Thursdays. Your luxurious waterfront hotel room at Battery Wharf will be waiting for you when you get back.
