Boston's Venetian Palace

Thoughts of Boston probably do not immediately conjure up the image of a 15th-century Venetian palace. However, that is precisely what you will see when you visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. One of North America’s most enchanting and unusual galleries, it features painting, sculpture, furniture, rare books, and more from classical Rome, Medieval Europe, the Renaissance, the Middle East, Asia, Napoleon’s France, and America’s Gilded Age. Built in the style of the Palazzo Barbaro, the museum hosts a special event, aptly named Third Thursdays, every third Thursday of the month. Each one different from the last, next up is Thursday, May 18, at 5:30 P.M. You’ll roam the exhibits after hours, lounge in the courtyard garden, and create your own artwork. Snacks, dinner, and drinks will also be available for purchase. You’re always welcome to visit during regular hours, too, six days a week (the museum is closed on Tuesdays). Guests who wear Red Sox memorabilia receive discounted admission, and if your name is Isabella, you get in free.
