Top Summertime Things To Do In Boston

A Large Ship In A Body Of Water
Getting out to soak up the sunshine is perhaps the best part of summer. When it’s one of those humid New England scorchers, however, sometimes you just want to chill. Here a few ways to keep your cool.

Fenway Park

It’s always fun to root for the home team, and the Boston Red Sox is baseball’s home team of legends: Big Papi, Fisk, Williams, Clemens, and Garciaparra, among many others. With its illustrious history, Fenway offers more than baseball: it’s a concert and event venue. Take a tour if you can’t make the game. For more information click here.

Annual Boston Harborfest Celebration

Boston Harborfest is packed with family-friendly fun. Throughout the Harborfront revelers witness historical reenactments, groove to live music, cheer on parades, and marvel at the fireworks display over Boston Harbor on Saturday, July 2 at 9:00 PM.

Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular

An annual favorite, the Hatch Memorial Shell hosts the Boston Pops on the Charles River Esplanade. While 2022 marks 49 years in its current incarnation, the Independence Day celebration started back in 1929. Led by Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops will welcome music icon Chaka Khan and others for the 2022 event.

Boston Harbor Cruises

A cruise is one of the best ways to stay cool. BHC offers cruises for anyone and everyone: sight-seeing, dining, cocktails, whale-watching, and more.

Something for the pet lover

Vacationing with your furry friend? No worries, Boston has something for them, too! There are all the smells for dogs and all the sights for humans, so get out the leash and the walking shoes and stroll, run, or bike along the Charles River. Off-leash areas are available at Boston Common. Leashed dogs are allowed on the T, meaning you can take a walk on the other side of the city! Dogs (and children) are both welcome to enjoy time on the water at Paddle Boston: rent kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes. Lifejackets are available for human children and furbabies.

Truly local experiences await you

For an authentic taste of Boston, check out some offerings from the locals. Try the politically incorrect North End Food Tour, a walking murder mystery, Salem witch tour, or historic walking tour where you can soak up all that Boston is. Find out about Boston’s rock & roll history, learn to shuck oysters, or board a historic schooner for a lesson in sailing, or have a drink if that’s not your thing. Tours by locals offers food tours, excursions to Cape Cod and
Provincetown, or an early morning run.
